Identification

Distinguished from Leaf-toed Geckos by having significantly broader digits. Seperated from Mourning Gecko by spiny tail.

Description

A highly variable species with a myriad of color variations, ranging from overall whitish to overall brownish to whitish with dark brown patterning. Sexes are similar, with males being slightly larger on average.

Galapagos Distribution

An introduced species which has taken up residence in Galapagos towns such as Puerto Ayora, Puerto Villamil and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

Global Distribution

Native to SE Asia, this species has been introduced across the Americas, Africa and Australia as well as a number of tropical islands world wide.

Status in the Galapagos

Very common, but localized introduced species.
