Identification
The only wader in the Galapagos with a long decurved bill.
Description
A large shorebird with a long , thin decurved bill, a dark brown back with buff markings, dark brown crown and eye-stripe and otherwise buff plumage with bold dark brown streaking .Females have longer bills than males, but otherwise sexes are similar.
Galapagos Distribution
Found throughout the archipelego, mainly on shorelines.
Global Distribution
Breeding visitor to the arctic and widespread non-breeding visitor to most of the world’s shorelines, mainly south of the Tropic of cancer.
Status in the Galapagos
Common migrant present year round, but most common between August and April.
